Paws & Whiskers Co. was born in 2019 out of a very specific frustration: founder Lila Torres couldn't find a pet care service in Austin that felt warm, reliable, and actually affordable. A lifelong animal lover who grew up with everything from rescue dogs to a very opinionated tabby cat, Lila decided the city deserved something better — and built it herself from the ground up.
What started as Lila walking three dogs in her South Austin neighborhood has grown into a team of six passionate pet professionals serving clients across the entire city. Our team includes certified groomers, trained pet first-aid responders, and walkers who genuinely look forward to every single visit. We're a small business, and that's something we're proud of — it means every pet gets our full attention.
Our mission is simple: give every pet the kind of care you'd want them to receive if you could be there yourself. That means no rushed visits, no cookie-cutter grooming, and no unanswered texts when you're worried about your fur baby. We treat your pets like family because, honestly, they are family.
We believe pet care should be joyful — for the animals and the humans.
